This is a brilliant idea, while I love the idea of going green and re-using old buildings as greenhouse or in this case, a vertical farm. The problem I’m having with this is, by growing our food in these indoor facilities which is basically a big clean room where everything from the temperature to the soil is controlled by us. What we are running into, is the fact that there are no natural elements to this equation.

But what does this mean?

Basically in a nutshell its saying that if the plants aren’t outside getting hammered into but the natural environment they, like us are not building up the immunity to the natural bacteria or are they being able to fight off diseases. They rely on us for everything from water to chemicals to learn to grow, as such they are not transmitting anything back into our bodies (they are pure plants with no contamination). As humans our bodies rely on the natural world do infect us in order to learn to fight off diseases and sickness. By having these plants grown indoors at all times, these micro diseases that we rely on the plants on to pass on to us will become non existent thus our bodes will no longer know how to fight off any kind of sickness. Sounds like a zombie land in the making.
